How do I use the brushes in my Application?
I can only guarantee they will work on 7.x versions photoshop, so I'll get that out of the way first. I've heard rumors of people being able to get them to work in Paintshop Pro, but I don't have that application so I've never tested that.
Adobe: Download the item to your photoshop folder, and open PS. Open up (or create) the document you want to work with. Go into the brushes palette menu in Adobe photoshop & click on the arrow in the upper right-hand corner. You should see an option that says "load brushes." Select the load brushes option, and choose which set of brushes you want to use. You can also use the "replace brushes" option, but this will delete all of the existing brushes in your palette, so be sure to "save brushes as..." from the upper-right arrow menu before you replace anything!
PSP: Like I said, I don't know if this actually works, but I'll pass on what I've heard to you folks. First, change the ".abr" to ".jbr". If you don't do that, it wont be able to tell that it is a readable PSP file. after that, uh...you're pretty much on you're own.
How do I make these?
In adobe (and possibly in PSP....) first you have to make a B&W or grayscale image. It can be a scan, it can be a picture, it can even be a quick scribble using existing brushes of yours. After you have the image you want to be a brush, use a selection tool to surround the image you want.(E.G. - circle marquee, rectangle marquee, magic lasso, magic wand) Go into the brush palette & under the little upper-right arrow, select the "Define Brush" option. Now you have made your very own brush!!
Terms and Conditions
PLEASE READ THESE BEFORE YOU DOWNLOAD OR ELSE I'LL BE FORCED TO TAKE THIS SITE DOWN, AND YOU CAN JUST SIT THERE WITH YOU THUMBS UP YOUR ASSES;
- If you use these brushes online, offline, or anywhere that you'll be sharing your art, please make sure that you credit this website for their use. I don't care if you don't even put it on the specific image, as long as in the same period of time as its creation & on the same document vicinity that my brushes are used, people know that they were done by me. I would prefer you put them directly on the image, but that's not always possible, so if its small (EG, lj icons) please credit me in your user info page or account info page, or if its an image you want textless (EG; private image, website design, DA/sheezyart image) in the description of the image -- on the same page -- please leave me credit. Just because there is a situation I haven't thought of, that does not make ANYONE exempt from this rule.
- When crediting me, I'd love for you to link back to the site ( redmoonstudios.com/buddha ), but since that's not always what people want to do, a simple "Brushes © D*H" or "Brushes © Misguided Buddha" is completely acceptable as well.
- Do not, and I mean **DO NOT** put my brush packs on your page, claim them as your own, or otherwise try to relocate and/or reclaim them. You have no idea how many times I've had to be a shrew to people who have done that in the past. If you do that, we will have to go to a private system & payment will be required to enter the site. I don't want to do that, you don't want to do that, so don't test me.
- If you're using my brushes on a design or commercial product where you have to show off your art w/o any copyright attachments, please go to the 'site info' section and contact me for my written permission and any occurring fees.
- Have fun, and be creative! If you've done something really interesting, tell me about it! If you did something that's shit-my-pants-awesome and you damn-well know it, drop me a link so that I can see what cool and quirky things are being done with my babies.
